About JoAnn Audrey - The woman behind the ties.
Jo Ann Audrey, the woman behind the J. Audrey neckwear label, is known for chic sophistication, elegance and unique styling which, on occasion, can border on the edgy side. Her motto is all about color and insists that there is nothing more flattering to a man than color. Her ideas stem from her love and appreciation of beautiful objects and art whatever they may be. "I like to look at designs from years ago and reinvent them", she relates. Consequently Jo Ann spends hours in the archives worldwide working together with her associate from Lyon, France.
Her passion for exquisite designs and gorgeous jewel tone colors runs deep starting when she was in her late teens. Thus began her love affair with men's neckwear and it has continued to flourish for decades. When told that her neckwear is considered to have a certain sexual appeal...Jo Ann smiles coyly...and then says with a big grin... A Job Well Done.
Jo Ann Audrey does not design the ordinary; she does not follow trends; what she does do is design beautiful fashion men's neckwear that appeals to all ages and adds that certain something to an outfit and, without question, to the wearer.
The mill that produces this exceptional collection was established in the 1960's and has had years of experience in producing fabrics for the finest haute couture firms in the world.
Located in the magnificent Savoie region of the Rhone Valley, the facility is a hi tech sophisticated weaving mill that is structured to produce perfect fabrics with the latest equipment that includes air conditioning throughout the factory with a special lint removing system that takes every speck of dust from the air. This controls the temperature and humidity which is necessary to weave perfectly.
During the weaving process an attendant oversees the production at all times. When the finished fabric is taken off the looms, it is examined before being sent to the finisher who is extremely knowledgeable in seeing that the silks are finished with the proper hand in accordance to the customers specifications. This process is very important in producing a perfectly woven product. On their return to the weaving mill they are reexamined before being sent back to Lyon to be shipped to their next destination. In Lyon they are prepared for shipment outside of France where the ties will be made by hand by highly skilled sewers who take great pride in producing a superior product. Each tie is made with the same precision and care, and in each process the passion that Jo Ann Audrey has for her product is revealed.
J. Audrey Neckwear is made in two models; the Classic, which is the normal fold with self fabric tipping, self loop and two bar tacks, and the 6 Fold, which takes more fabric but is basically made in the same construction with a longer luxurious drape in the back. The neckwear is 58 inches long and 3 1/2 inches wide which is the current modern look. Extra long ties are also available at 64 inches long.
J. Audrey defines the artistry of change. Her unique styling inspires the newness of fashion combined with a novel approach to yesteryear and tomorrow.
